Kelly Homan

Kelly Homan was born in West Islip, New York, and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from The College of New Rochelle in 1995. She began her career in corporate financial accounting in New York City, working for Edelman Public Relations and Accenture from 1995 to 2002.

Inspired by the events of September 11, 2001, Kelly transitioned to education and returned to The College of New Rochelle to earn her master’s degree in K–12 School Counseling. In December 2003, she relocated to the Lowcountry and began her role as a school counselor at Bluffton High School in 2004. She has proudly served the Bobcat community for over two decades.

From 2012 to 2016, Kelly served as Lead Counselor, managing a team of four. In 2016, she chose to return fully to individual counseling to dedicate more time to her students. Her passion and commitment earned her the Beaufort County School District High School Counselor of the Year and School Counselor of the Year honors in 2020.

Kelly continues to grow professionally, earning a Microcredential in College Admissions Counseling from The Citadel in 2025 and a Global Career Development Facilitator Certification from the University of South Carolina in 2011. She is a proud member of the American School Counselor Association, Palmetto State School Counselor Association, South Carolina Educators Association, and National Educators Association. She also serves on the Beaufort County School Counselor Leadership Team (2021–present), contributing to district-wide initiatives and mentorship.

Deeply passionate about helping students realize their full potential, Kelly focuses on guiding them toward their academic and career goals. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her six nieces and nephews and doting on her four cats.
